Bergamot is a small, bitter orange, the rind of which has long been used to flavor Earl Grey Tea. Often used in relaxation blends for bath or massage. Bergamot is one of the best oils to rid anger and frustration. Its uses is especially worthwhile to let go of stress before eating, stimulating salivary production, and increasing appetite. It is also widely used in skin care, helping oily, stress related problems, as well as all types of herpes, providing pain relief and more rapid healing. Don't use this oil before immediate sun exposure, as it contains bergaptene a sort of "reverse" sunscreen, with burning being the obvious result .

Sweet Birch, like Wintergreen, is incredibly high in methyl salicylaros making it rather like "liquid aspirin" hence its widespread use in liniments for muscle and joint pain. Although a powerful renal tonic, helping with both calculi and infections, long term use becomes irritating to the kidneys and should be avoided. The invigorating fragrance is often used for its stimulation effects, and may help with dull headaches. Avoid during pregnancy.

This oil is quite likely our best overall astringent. Lymphatic congestion, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, spongy gums, excessive periods, deep coughs, and excessive perspiration should respond well. This 'pulling together' action seems to affect mental & emotional issues such as crying, anger, confusion, preoccupation, and so on. Keep in mind that citrus oils like Grapefruit are astringent in nature, and do wonders to improve the scent of cypress in a blend. Avoid while pregnant. Highly flammable.

It's very supportive with low spirits, loneliness, homesick feelings or where tension exists due to communication problems. Physically, it's another great circulatory stimulant, helping to clear bruises, ease lower back pain due to exertion or menstrual problems, headaches, poor digestion, chilly rheumatism or as an after sports rub. Marjoram is also a worthy infection fighter, containing some of the same terenoid alcohols as found in both Junipers and Melaleuca genus. Avoid if pregnant or have low blood pressure .

Oregano is likely the essential oil highest in phenols, the most powerful of organic infection fighters. It also delivers heat, which brings comfort to rheumatic complaints, sore muscles, periodic cramps, and helps the penetration of other oils when used in a blend. From mouth and respiratory infections, infected cuts and wounds to digestive disturbance and pararsitic invasions this one is hard to beat. Oregano is also a stimulating nerve tonic and is said to help conditions such as facial "tics" and tinnitus. For headaches, try rubbing a drop along the base of the hairline on the back of your head, and also on the temples. Rosemary, extremely versatile oil mostly known for its effects as a mental stimulant and liver tonic. It provides a boost to all vital centers, particularly useful with anemia, low blood pressure or after surgery. Contraindicated with high blood pressure, epilepsy and first four months of pregancy. As a liver tonic, the oil has proven helpful with infection and gallstones, giving bile production an increase by as much as 30 to 50 times!
